Class Description
Welcome to CP Chemistry!
​
We will be exploring the basic concepts of chemistry which include, but are not limited to: chemical reactions, matter, atomic theory, nuclear chemistry, and the periodic table.
​
This is a laboratory class. You will be completing experiments and writing lab reports. You will be completing notes primarily in the guided inquiry format. All information on class procedures and grading policies are linked in the "attached assignments" section.
​
This class will be challenging but rewarding. If you try your best, you will succeed.
Chemistry in the News
Traditional textiles like polyester and cotton tend to trap body heat, but a plastic material called nanoPE lets heat escape. Researchers are looking at ways of using the material to make a high-tech fabric.
Aside from its obviously gorgeous, vibrant hue, the color compound contains properties that make it energy-efficient, super safe, and long-lasting.
Flavor companies are working feverishly to find additional sources of natural vanillin and launch initiatives to boost the quality and quantity of bean-derived vanilla.
